Photo A Day July 28--Last Thing You Bought
Replenished my supplies yesterday. Wine and shrimp sauce (to go with the frozen shrimp I got)--I love the color on these!

Photo A Day July 27--Cup
"Herdy" is from Webs, a souvenir of my latest trip there! Plus he's lime green. What's not to love?

Photo A Day July 27--On the Road
Long Beach as seen from the onramp of the 710, heading north. Obviously I was NOT driving!

Photo A Day July 25--hearts
There seems to be q uite a dearth of "hearts" around here. However, my knitting books seldom fail me...

Photo A Day July 24--A Stranger
This is Rochelle. She's not a stranger, nor is she any stranger than any of my other friends, but she volunteered to be my designated stranger for photo purposes. I was going to take pictures of some other people today, but all of them looked as though they'd poke me if I tried it, so I chickened out.
Oh well...

Photo A Day July 22--Upside Down
Didn't say the subject had to be upside down--so I flipped the camera!

Photo A Day July 21--9:00
The clock is behind the cat--you can just see the top of the iPod that sits in the clock! No wonder I can never get up on time...

Photo A Day July 20--Eyes
Eyes--tried to take pictures of cat eyes, but they moved too fast. Looked for other eyes, even considered one of my old photos that was hilarious... but couldn't locate it.
Then, at quilting at my friend Sandy's, I spotted her clock. Ah! Calavera eyes! And yes, they really are two different sizes...

Photo A Day July 19--Pet/Animal/Insect
The life of a quilter's cat is a terribly hard one. More evidence over on Flickr...

Photo A Day July 17--My Addiction
Yarn, fabric, books... yes, I am addicted. My 12-step program includes knitting like a mad woman and making lots and lots of quilts.

Photo A Day July 16--Sign
A sign that I have truly arrived at a knitter's nirvana--knirvana?--Webs, in Northampton Mass. Always a must-visit when I go home!
Photo A Day July 15--Finger
This is the bobbin case for my sewing machine. It's got a "finger" just above the latch, which has an eye in it. Hard to see, but it's t here! Threading the bobbin thread through the eye of t he finger puts extra tension on the bobbin thread, a very useful technique for quilting with two weights of thread.
Sorry to get all technical here--if you'd like to see "my" finger, check out Flickr!

Photo A Day July 13--Open
This blossom couldn't be more open--I think its next stage is "fallen apart." I love this bush!

Photo A Day July 12--Texture
This chair sits in the corner of my living room. It's a feast of textures, from the nubby covering of the chair itself, the soft/shiny throw, the smocked pillow, the hairy furry pillow, and the smooshy fuzzy bear.

Photo A Day July 11--Letter
Many of the photos I've seen posted today are the person's initial. So, here's mine! M for me, M for my Mercury Mariner.
Yes, Mercury is now a part of history. Very sad!

Photo A Day--my favorite color
Always when asked this, I reply "blue." And generally it's true. But when I look around I see an awful lot of this color. My car? Kiwi green. My raincoat? Lime. My umbrella? Lime.
So I guess I'm not as monogamous with my color preferences as I thought I was.

Photo A Day--Big
A picture of my big old house. With all its big old problems! That window up there? It leaks, badly, whenever it rains. Of course, it seldom rains here, but it still needs to be fixed.
The trim is peeling (lousy paint job by incompetent contractor), the roof leaks, and the a/c needs replacement.

Photo A Day July 8--Lunch
Today was a "summer play day" at my daughter's, complete with an inflated water slide and of course a sumptuous lunch! Four of us could share this same picture...

Photo A Day July 7--Garden
Since my "garden" is pretty much overgrown and/or just dead, it was a challenge finding something to take a picture of out there.
In hoping to remediate t he dryness and desiccation, I turned on the sprinkler--and voila, my photo!

Photo A Day, July 6--Chairs
I keep the "extra" chairs lined up next to the wall in the dining room, since the table currently only has one leaf in it. All the chairs are different from each other; the ladderback chair was refinished by Bob, ages ago. It originally had a black Spanish oak finish, to match our wrought iron-based table. The set was bought in 1968, just in time for Thanksgiving!

On the floor... Photo a Day July 5
Looking around the house for something interesting "on the floor" was pretty futile. But the front porch? Ah... dappled light, camellia and liquidambar leaves, jacaranda blossoms. Perfect!

Photo A Day July 3
My favorite time of day--early in the morning, when I've gotten myself down to the coffeemaker, and the day is still cool and fresh and full of possibility.
The rival time, for me, is in the evening when I can pour a glass of wine and forget all the "stuff" the day brought.

Photo of the Day July 2--Busy!
I have yarn to wind, quilts to bind, books and magazines and catalogs to read--oh, and bills to pay, but that comes last!

Photo A Day, July 1
The prompt for today was "self portrait." Now, I happen to not like the way I look, in fact I'm quite chicken about having my picture taken. So this was a hard one for me to do. Wound up sitting on the bed in the guest room with the rooster lamp and just snapping it. Came out nice and blurry, just the way I like it!
Photo a Day list-JULY-1
My new challenge, just for this month. Egged on by Lee, of Traveling Sardine Class!
